Light Among the Trees
Winter Moon over Red Bird in Aspen Forest has pale trunks that divide the scene into a series of vertical spaces. Winter Moon in Pine Valley gathers darker evergreens below a bright moon. Both place strong tree shapes against a lighter sky, but the patterns are quite different.
The aspen picture asks the eye to move between trunks. The pine valley leads attention across the tops of the trees and into the sky. Blue and violet passages keep the snow from becoming an empty white area; shadows give it shape and connect it to the rest of the landscape.
Find the Warm Note
The red bird and the golden moon are small warm accents in otherwise cool scenes. Cover neither image: simply look away from the accent, then return to it. Notice how readily the eye finds it again. That contrast offers a useful way to compare the two pictures without needing to name every tree or color.
